Frequently asked questions
Straight answers for Ontario used-car dealers. Something missing? support@compceiling.com.
What does CompCeiling actually tell me?
Pick a year, make, model and trim, and we show you what similar vehicles are listed for across Ontario right now — the typical asking price, the range most are listed between, average mileage, and how long they sit on the lot. Then we work backwards to the most you should pay for the unit, using your own profit target, recon budget, and fees.
Where do the numbers come from?
Every night we check over a thousand Ontario dealer websites and record what vehicles are listed for. You only ever see market totals and averages — never another dealer's individual listing, name, or VIN.
Are these sold prices or asking prices?
Asking prices. Sold prices aren't public in Ontario, and anyone claiming to have them is guessing. We say it plainly on every valuation: these numbers are what dealers are asking, not what vehicles sold for.
How is the max buy price calculated?
Simple math, shown in full on every valuation: start from the typical asking price (or a more careful, lower starting point if you prefer), then take off your profit target, your reconditioning budget, and fees like safety, detail, and transport. What's left is your ceiling — the most you can pay and still hit your number. No black box.
How do I know if a number is solid?
Every valuation tells you how many listings are behind it, with a plain rating from high to low. If your region doesn't have enough matching vehicles, we widen the search to all of Ontario and tell you we did — you'll never be shown a thin number dressed up as a solid one.
How fresh is the data?
Listings are updated every night, and only recent ones count toward your numbers. Each valuation shows the date it was last refreshed.
Can I price a specific trim?
Yes. Once you pick a year, make and model, the trim dropdown shows the trims actually for sale in Ontario right now — pick one and the prices, range, and your ceiling recalculate for that trim only.
What do I get for free?
Ten full valuations over 14 days, no credit card required. You see everything a paying dealer sees for those ten lookups.
What do the paid plans cost?
Basic is $99 a month for 25 valuations. Pro is $249 a month for unlimited valuations, downloads for Excel, and the live market ticker. Prices are in Canadian dollars plus HST, and paying yearly saves you about two months.
Can I cancel myself, and what happens when I do?
Yes — cancel anytime from your Account page, no phone call or email required. Billing stops, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and after that the account drops back to the free plan.
Do you offer refunds?
If you think a charge was made in error, ask within 30 days of that charge and we'll review it — the same terms written into our Terms of Service.
Is this an appraisal?
No. CompCeiling shows you the market so you can make a better call — but you're the professional. Inspect the vehicle, verify the numbers, and decide for yourself. Recon figures are ballpark estimates, not repair quotes.
What area does CompCeiling cover?
Ontario, Canada. You can narrow prices to your region — GTA, Ottawa, Southwestern Ontario and more — or search the whole province.
